Pulse 2022 Release Notes - Core Product and myAcumen

Core Product

In late 2022, Association Analytics released the new Pulse Dashboard product into Acumen. This dashboard is comprised of pinned live tiles from your core reports. These tiles update as your report updates and will reflect the same visual you see in your base report.

Subscriptions for the core Pulse dashboard are limited. It's recommended your A2 team set-up a recurring email to a distribution group email.

Limitations: Our core dashboard product is limited to the standard visual layout to avoid performance issues and ensure reliability. Those who use myAcumen can create custom dashboards as outlined below.

myAcumen Self-Service

Requirements:

User must have myAcumen and access to Power BI service. Reach out to our support team to request access.

User must use visualizations and KPIs from the myAcumen dataset.

Emails can only be sent to recipients set up in the Power BI workspace (the recipient who has access).

User must be administrative level user to build and email dashboards.

Known Limitations:

Dashboards in Power BI service will not render if overloaded with too many or too complex visualizations. Our standard protocol uses a light mix of KPI cards and a no more than 4 complex graphs to ensure proper rendering.

Caching issues do affect Power BI dashboards, the resolution per Microsoft is to regularly clear cached images and avoid pinning too many KPIs to a single dashboard.

Formats are very limited in the Power BI dashboard tiling system. Very few overriding formats are available in this Microsoft product. Tiles come in predetermined heights and widths which you can alter only in a limited manner.

Microsoft Power BI subscriptions will only allow up to 24 recipients for an email dashboard subscription. Distribution groups is a preferred way to share emailed dashboards.

Only users with Power BI service access in Acumen can receive an emailed dashboard subscription. This may result in limited access as well in some cases. The recommended action is to make use of the graphic depiction of the dashboard that Microsoft Power BI includes in the emailed distribution.

Acumen embeds (the website access and menu for Acumen) do not yet support the DIY (myAcumen) dashboard. We are working with our development team to build that infrastructure. (Future Development Item)

When you disable a tile in dashboards, it may redirect to a blank screen and your user may have to hit the back button. (Known bug already in review)

Association analytics is still testing and working through potential limitations Microsoft might place on # dashboards, # subscribers, and performance considerations. Please remember to sunset outdated or test dashboards by deleting them from the space and end all unnecessary subscriptions.

 Recommended Use Cases:

“I want to break down silos” – Give your membership better understanding of events, community, email or engagement by making dashboard with a few highlights from each business unit.

“I want to increase Acumen adoption” – Select a few KPI cards and graphs from modules that are not as widely used or understood.

“I want to regularly update my board” – Create a high level dashboard with key strategic KPI’s, subscribe to the report, then distribute the graphic into a regular email to your board.
